District Development Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma convened the Block Diwas programme at Surankote to address public grievances and review developmental issues of the area. The programme was attended by local SDM Farooq Khan; Tehsildar Mohammad Akbar, besides district and sectoral officers and other concerned officials.

The locals raised several day-to-day issues and developmental concerns pertaining to their area. The public projected demands related to water supply schemes, road connectivity, compensation for land acquired for road projects, problems related to power and other basic amenities.

The DDC patiently listened to the grievances of the people and directed the concerned officers to take note of all genuine issues and ensure their timely redressal. He instructed the officers to work in coordination and address public concerns on priority.

The concerned officers also responded one by one to the grievances and queries raised by the public during the programme. While addressing the gathering, the District Development Commissioner assured the people that all genuine issues would be resolved in a phased and time-bound manner.

He emphasized responsive governance and directed the officers to remain proactive in addressing public issues at the grassroots level. The District Development Commissioner also made the people aware about the government schemes related to Agriculture, Horticulture and livelihood generation.

He encouraged the youth and farmers to avail the benefits of these schemes to enhance their income, generate self-employment opportunities and improve their livelihoods. The locals appreciated the district administration for organizing the Block Diwas programme in the area and for providing them an opportunity to directly interact with the administration.
