Harpal Singh Cheema inaugurates a new modern sports ground at village Shadihari

The Punjab Government has been making continuous efforts to promote sports and keep youth away from drugs. In line with these efforts, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema inaugurated a modern sports ground constructed at an approximate cost of ₹1.61 crore in village Shadihari, constituency Dirba, and dedicated it to the public.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that it is a priority of the Punjab Government to provide better sports facilities to the youth in rural areas so that they can channel their energy in the right direction. He said that the completion of this stadium will provide local players with opportunities for high-level training and inspire the younger generation to excel in sports.

The Cabinet Minister further stated that sports are one of the most effective means of keeping youth away from drugs. Sports not only strengthen the body but also build mental resilience. He added that players, in any field, have a greater capacity to perform better than others.

The Cabinet Minister informed that all necessary facilities have been provided at this sports ground, enabling the practice of various sports with ease. He also said that the government is initiating more such projects across the state. He appealed to the villagers to collectively maintain the stadium and encouraged the youth to actively participate in sports.

On this occasion, Chairman of Improvement Trust Sangrur, Pritam Singh Peetu; Chairperson of Market Committee Dirba, Jasvir Kaur Shergill; SDM Dirba, Tarsem Chand; along with local leaders, panchayat members, and a large number of villagers were present. They expressed gratitude to the Punjab Government for this initiative.
