Mohammad Alyas Khan reviews SANJY-2026 preparedness at Lamber Banihal

Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today conducted an on-site inspection of the Langer facility at Lamber in Banihal to review arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 2026.

Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta, ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak, ACD Sheraz Ahmed, SDM Mohammad Naseeb Bajraan, Representative of NHAI, besides officers from Jal Shakti, PWD, JPDCL, Health, Revenue and other departments, the Deputy Commissioner carried out a comprehensive inspection of key facilities along the Yatra route.

During the visit, special focus was laid on the Lamber Banihal camp, a crucial halt location for pilgrims and security personnel. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed facilities including accommodation, sanitation, uninterrupted water and power supply, healthcare services and security arrangements.

Describing Lamber Banihal as a critical point on the Yatra route, the DC emphasized the need for meticulous planning and seamless execution of all arrangements. He directed concerned departments to ensure that all essential services are put in place well in advance for the convenience and safety of the yatris.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the joint inspection was aimed at assessing preparedness and ensuring timely completion of works for the smooth conduct of SANJY-2026. He stressed that adequate facilities must also be ensured for security forces deployed along the route.

Highlighting the importance of infrastructure readiness, the DC directed the National Highways Authority of India to expedite ongoing tunnel and viaduct works between Ramban and Banihal. He also instructed executing agencies to fast-track the upgradation of road stretches to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and enhance overall travel safety.

Reiterating the need for inter-departmental coordination, the Deputy Commissioner called upon all stakeholders to work in close synergy to ensure a safe, smooth and well-managed pilgrimage experience for devotees undertaking the annual Yatra.
