Foundation stones laid for renovation of village roads worth crores

Punjab Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO, while accelerating development works in the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency, laid the foundation stones of link road projects in various villages of the constituency. These projects aim to strengthen rural connectivity, facilitate smoother transportation, and improve the day-to-day lives of the people.

The PWD Minister stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government will undertake the construction of these roads at an estimated cost of around ₹2.78 crore, which will prove to be a milestone in the overall development of the villages. He informed that in village Saido Lehal, various interlocking roads will be constructed at a cost of ₹1.40 crore. 

These roads will have a total length of 3.50 kilometers and a width of 10 feet, which will significantly improve transportation facilities within the village. He further added that in village Akalgarh Dhapai, interlocking roads will also be constructed at a cost of ₹1.38 crore. 

These roads will span a total length of 3.45 kilometers and will be 10 feet wide, strengthening the transportation infrastructure of the area. He said, “All these works will be executed under the Special Assistance Scheme. 

The work has already been allotted to the concerned contractors, and a target of completing these projects within six months has been set.” On the occasion, Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO reiterated that the Punjab Government is fully committed to strengthening rural infrastructure. 

He said these roads will not only ease transportation but also boost economic activities and improve connectivity between villages and urban areas. He directed the officials to ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated time frame with transparency and high quality so that people can benefit from these development projects at the earliest. 

He added that the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency will emerge as one of the leading constituencies of the state in terms of development.
