Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today launched the first phase of Census 2027 by kicking off the Self-Enumeration process in the State. Addressing a press conference after the launch, the Chief Minister said that the census is a significant national exercise conducted at regular intervals, and the data collected is simple, secure, and completely confidential.
He added that the data plays a crucial role in formulating schemes for various sections of society and in determining the future course of development. Highlighting the theme of this Census, the Chief Minister said, “The tagline of Census 2027, ‘Our Census, Our Development,’ reflects the importance of this nationwide campaign.”
Responding to a question, he stated that census data will prove highly useful in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047, and appealed to all citizens to extend meaningful cooperation in this process. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, and State Nodal Officer for Census 2027, said that Self-Enumeration will continue from April 16 to April 30, 2026, followed by Houselisting and Housing Census activities from May 1 to May 30, 2026.
She informed that well-trained teams will be engaged across Haryana for this nationally important exercise. Sh. Lalit Jain, Director, Haryana State Directorate of Census Operations, said that Haryana is fully prepared for the State’s first digital census.
With 7,000 to 65,000 census workers trained, citizens can self-enumerate from anywhere using the simple, multilingual portal and mobile app, saving time by sharing only the SE ID with enumerators. He assured that all data is stored on protected Ministry of Home Affairs servers, cannot be accessed by anyone including the respondent, and only macro-level data will be released.
The Chief Minister appealed to all residents of Haryana to actively participate in the Self-Enumeration process and ensure accurate submission of information through *se.census.gov.in*, so that every household is counted in the nation’s largest administrative exercise.
