On the sacred occasion of Baisakhi, before the senior leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab paid obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, eminent lawyer and senior BJP leader Sardar H.S. Phoolka interacted with the media and extended greetings on the Khalsa Sajna Diwas.

He said that the creation of the Khalsa Panth by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699 not only protected the nation from external invaders but also instilled courage, strength, and self-respect among the Sikh community. Expressing gratitude to the Guru Sahiban, Phoolka prayed that Punjab regains its past glory and reaches new heights.

Phoolka stated that he shares a deep spiritual and personal connection with Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, and holding the first press conference of his new political innings here is a matter of pride for him.

Questioning government’s intent in sacrilege cases

Responding to media queries, Phoolka expressed serious concern over sacrilege cases. He said that several cases are being transferred outside Punjab, and the Punjab government is not challenging these decisions in higher courts or the Supreme Court, raising serious questions about its intent.

He emphasized that this issue is not limited to the Sikh community but is connected to the sentiments of all Punjabis and should not be politicized.

1984 cases and struggle for justice

Speaking about his long legal battle, Phoolka said that he continued to fight for justice in the 1984 Sikh genocide cases even after resigning from his position, which eventually led to convictions of accused like Sajjan Kumar. He said that this success was possible due to the blessings of Waheguru.

He alleged that Congress governments, instead of punishing the guilty, rewarded them with high positions, and described the 1984 violence as “Congress versus Sikhs,” not a conflict against any religion.

Concern over current situation in Punjab

Phoolka expressed concern over the current condition of Punjab, particularly regarding depleting water resources and agricultural challenges. He warned that the water crisis could take a serious turn in the coming years.

He said that he has re-entered politics with the aim of bringing Punjab back on the path of development and prosperity and will work with full dedication toward this goal.

Final message

On this sacred occasion, Phoolka urged everyone to rise above political differences, offer prayers for the Guru’s blessings, and work together for the welfare of Punjab.
