LUMIERE 2026 Ignites Creativity and Cinema at PEC

LUMIERE 2026, a three-day national-level filmmaking festival organised by the Projection and Design Club (PDC) at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, commenced on April 10, 2026, with great enthusiasm and participation. Centered around the theme “Stories That Matter: Cinema for Social Change,” the festival brings together filmmakers, storytellers, and creative enthusiasts from across the country.
The inaugural ceremony began with the arrival of dignitaries, followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony symbolizing the spirit of creativity and knowledge. The event was graced by Dr. Shobhna Dhiman, Registrar and Dr. Kaustubh Kamble, Officer In-Charge, PDC, who addressed the gathering and encouraged participants to explore the power of storytelling through cinema.
The ceremony also featured a documentary presentation by the Projection and Design Club, highlighting the vision and efforts behind LUMIERE 2026, followed by a felicitation ceremony recognising key contributors. The session concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, organising team, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
A special highlight of the evening was the screening of the film “Greeshmaant”, which secured first place at the Reborn India Film Festival, showcasing excellence in storytelling and cinematic creativity. The festival features a diverse lineup of events across three days, including the Lumiere Sprint (48-Hour Filmmaking Challenge), Northern Ray (Regional Cinema Showcase), Prism (National Student Film Competition), and Vérité (Documentary and Social Impact Films).
It also includes engaging workshops such as Aperture Lab (Cinematography Masterclass), Splice (Editing Workshop), and Script & Shadow (Screenwriting Workshop), along with panel discussions, open mic sessions, photo walks, and cultural evenings. The event has witnessed strong participation, with over 500 participants and the involvement of industry experts, creating a dynamic platform for learning, collaboration, and creative exploration.
With its blend of competitions, workshops, and screenings, LUMIERE 2026 continues to strengthen PEC’s legacy of promoting innovation, creativity, and artistic excellence, while providing a platform for meaningful storytelling and cinematic expression.
