Directs Immediate Procurement in Mandis Witnessing Arrival; SDMs to Conduct Physical Visits

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today reviewed the arrival and storage status of wheat in various mandis across the district and directed all procurement agencies to commence procurement operations immediately in mandis where arrivals have begun.
Chairing a review meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Geetika Singh, SDMs Amit Gupta, Gurmeet Singh and Damandeep Kaur, along with district in-charges of all procurement agencies, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for prompt and efficient procurement arrangements.
She directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates to conduct regular physical visits to mandis as well as storage points to ensure smooth operations and to address any issues on the ground without delay. Stressing on preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner instructed concerned officials to ensure completion of all essential arrangements, including cleanliness, availability of drinking water, proper sanitation facilities such as urinals, adequate lighting, and other logistics related to procurement.
She further directed all district heads of procurement agencies to ensure seamless coordination with commission agents and all stakeholders in Mandis and to make necessary arrangements for efficient procurement operations.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that initial wheat arrivals have been reported at Banur, Lalru and Samgouli out of the 19 purchase centres established across the district. Reiterating the administration’s commitment, she called for coordinated efforts from all departments to ensure a smooth and hassle-free procurement season for farmers.
