Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab ministers, MLAs, leaders including members of the Nasha Mukti Morcha at the block and district levels, held an important meeting under the leadership of AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia to review and strengthen the ongoing campaign against drugs in Punjab. Addressing the media after the meeting, AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated that the AAP government is the first government in Punjab to take strict and unbiased action against drug peddlers and traffickers, irrespective of their political affiliation or status.

He emphasized that whether it is a party worker, sarpanch, office bearer, or any influential individual, no one is being spared if found involved in the drug trade. He was accompanied by AAP Punjab Working President Amansher Singh Shery Kalsi, Ministers Harbhajan Singh ETO and Laljit Singh Bhullar.

Dhaliwal said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government has issued clear and strict instructions to the administration and police that no accused should be let off under any pressure. “Unlike previous governments, where political interference protected drug smugglers, the AAP government is ensuring that strict action is taken in every case,” he added.

He highlighted that significant progress has been made in the fight against drugs over the past year. “The drug supply chains have been hit hard, several networks have been dismantled, and many key accused have been arrested. Our teams have worked tirelessly, achieving results that were never seen before in Punjab,” Dhaliwal said.

Taking a dig at previous regimes, he alleged that during earlier governments, information about drug trafficking was often ignored or suppressed due to political pressure. “Today, the situation has changed. If anyone is found involved or linked to drug trafficking, strict action is taken immediately,” he asserted.

Dhaliwal further stated that the government’s anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” is being actively taken to the grassroots level. Teams are visiting villages, engaging with local communities, and raising awareness to eliminate drugs from society. He said that the government aims to make every village drug-free.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Dhaliwal said that although major breakthroughs have been achieved, the war against drugs is still ongoing. “This fight will not stop until Punjab becomes completely drug-free,” he affirmed.
