Commissionerate Police Amritsar traces 400 lost mobile phones from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and various districts of Punjab and hands them over to their rightful owners

Taking another public-friendly initiative, Commissionerate Police Amritsar has successfully traced 400 mobile phones reported lost by citizens. These phones were recovered from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and districts of Punjab including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Amritsar Rural, and have now been returned to their rightful owners.

This is the third major initiative in which lost mobile phones have been traced and handed back to citizens. Earlier, 100 mobile phones were returned in the first phase and 200 mobile phones in the second phase, while 400 mobile phones have now been successfully traced and returned in the third phase.

As per the directions of Shri Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, police teams of Commissionerate Police Amritsar carried out sustained technical efforts to trace the missing devices. Out of the total 400 mobile phones, 269 mobile phones were traced by the Police Station Cyber Crime team, 85 by Sub-Division East, 29 by Sub-Division Central and 17 by Sub-Division North.

The recovered phones include 13 iPhones and 387 Android phones of different brands, with an estimated total value of approximately ₹85,20,000/-. During the course of investigation using technical surveillance and the CEIR system, the mobile phones were traced from different locations including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and various districts of Punjab such as Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Amritsar Rural area, before being handed over to their rightful owners.

The public has been advised that whenever a mobile phone is lost, they should immediately lodge a missing report at the nearest police station or joint center. Citizens are also encouraged to register their complaint on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal issued by the Ministry of Telecommunications, which helps in blocking and tracing lost mobile phones and prevents their misuse.
