Bringing a major relief to residents and livestock owners of Lalru and surrounding villages, MLA Derabassi Kuljit Singh Randhawa today kickstarted the construction work of a new building for the Civil Veterinary Hospital at Lalru. The project will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 49.64 lakh.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, MLA Randhawa said that the existing veterinary hospital building was constructed in 1961 and had been serving the area for several decades. Now for the past many days, it was declared unsafe.
Considering the growing population and increasing needs of livestock farmers, the construction of a new and modern building had become essential. He said that once completed, the new building will significantly improve veterinary healthcare services in the area and will ensure better treatment facilities for animals, which are a vital source of livelihood for many rural families.
Randhawa reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening infrastructure and improving public services across the state. He said special focus is being given to the development of rural areas and to providing better facilities to farmers and livestock rearers.
The MLA further stated that the Mann Government is continuously working to upgrade health, education, road and veterinary infrastructure to ensure that people receive quality services closer to their homes. Local residents and officials of the Animal Husbandry Department expressed gratitude to the Punjab Government and the MLA for initiating the long-awaited project, stating that the new building will greatly benefit livestock owners in Lalru and nearby villages.
S Veterinary Officer Dr Bhupinder Singh, Veterinary Officer Dr. Kusum Lata and other officials were also present on the occasion.
