Under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, District Administration to organize ‘Daud Jalandhar’ on March 8 on the Occasion of Women’s Day

Under the Punjab Government’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ initiative, with the objective of spreading awareness against drug abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle, the District Administration, in collaboration with CT Group of Institutions, is organizing the ‘Daud Jalandhar’ Half Marathon on March 8, 2026, on the special occasion of International Women’s Day.
Chairing a meeting with officials of various departments in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal informed that the Half Marathon will be held in three categories: 21 kilometers (Open), 5 kilometers (Open) and 5 kilometers (Veteran). Responsibilities have been assigned to officials of different departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the marathon.
Dr. Aggarwal stated that a large number of students from various educational institutions are expected to participate. He directed officials to ensure arrangements for refreshments, drinking water, ambulances, medical teams, while instructing the Police Department to maintain security and smooth traffic management.
He also emphasized maximum participation of the general public, besides students, to spread greater awareness against drugs. Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to eradicate drugs from the roots, Dr. Aggarwal said that this marathon would prove to be a major initiative of the District Administration under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign.
He further informed that on this occasion, 10 girls/women who have earned distinction in different fields will also be felicitated. Notably, boys and girls above 18 years of age can participate in the 21 km (Open) category, those above 16 years in the 5 km (Open) category, and men and women above 50 years in the 5 km (Veteran) category. Winners in different categories will be awarded cash prizes.
The 5 km run will start from CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur, and after passing through CT World School and Royal Residency, will return to conclude at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur. The 21 km Half Marathon will start from CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur, and pass through CT World School, Royal Residency, Jalandhar Heights-2, Jalandhar Heights-1, Curo Mall, Kidney Hospital, Iconic Mall and Chunmun Mall before returning along the same route to conclude at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur.
Describing ‘Daud Jalandhar’ as the 17th CT Half Marathon of the CT Group, the Deputy Commissioner urged district residents to participate enthusiastically, stating that the war against drugs can be won only through active public participation. CT Group Managing Director Manbir Singh assured full support of the institution to the administration for the successful conduct of the Half Marathon. He said that a large number of students and staff members would participate and volunteer teams would be deployed for the convenience of participants.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Divya P., Assistant Commissioner (UT) Mukilan R., District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh Bajwa, officials of various departments and office-bearers of CT Group of Institutions were also present in the meeting.
