Expert Lecture on Natural Justice Organised at RBU

Rayat Bahra University School of Law organised an expert lecture on the theme “Natural Justice – The Cornerstone of Fair Procedure.” The session aimed to deepen students’ understanding of the fundamental principles that underpin fairness in the legal system.

Dean, School of Law, Prof. (Dr.) Akhilesh Ranaut formally welcomed the distinguished speaker. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University, also graced the occasion and encouraged students to actively engage with the subject. The highlight of the event was an enlightening address by Justice (Retd.) Rajeev Sharma, who served as the keynote speaker. 

The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students, making it a highly enriching academic experience. Justice Sharma delivered an insightful and thought-provoking discourse on the core principles of natural justice, emphasizing their indispensable role in ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in legal proceedings.

Drawing upon his vast judicial experience, he elaborated on essential doctrines such as the rule against bias and the right to a fair hearing. He complemented theoretical explanations with practical illustrations from real-life cases, offering students valuable perspectives beyond textbooks. 

The session enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of judicial reasoning and the practical application of natural justice in contemporary legal scenarios.  His engaging style of presentation and lucid explanations helped demystify complex legal concepts, making the lecture both informative and intellectually stimulating. 

Faculty members appreciated the relevance and timeliness of the topic and highlighted the importance of such expert interactions in bridging the gap between academic learning and professional legal practice. Students actively participated in the interactive segment, reflecting their keen interest in exploring the nuances of law and justice.
