Haryana Government Advances Cultural Heritage, Honours Icons and Strengthens Welfare Measures

Satyagrahis of Hindi Andolan and Emergency provided a monthly pension of Rs. 20,000 in recognition of their contributions

Haryana Governor, Sh. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that the present state government has taken a series of landmark initiatives to promote cultural heritage, honour eminent personalities and strengthen welfare measures for contributors in public life, media and social movements, reflecting its continued commitment to preserving traditions while recognising contemporary achievements.

While addressing the House on the first day of the Budget Session of the 15th Legislative Assembly which commenced here today,  he shared that a  five acre site has been approved in Sector-33, Kurukshetra, for a Sikh Museum and Memorial dedicated to the Sikh Gurus. Around Rs. 170 crore will be spent on this project.  

Another 5.39 acre site has also been approved in Sector-33, Kurukshetra, for Sant Guru Ravidas Bhawan and Museum and around Rs. 125 crore will be spent on this project, he said. The Governor further shared that the 350th martyrdom anniversary of ‘Hind ki Chadar’ Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was commemorated throughout the year with various programmes. 

He said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest at a state-level function organized in Kurukshetra on November 25, 2025. The Prime Minister released a commemorative coin and postage stamp in the honour of Guru ji.  

This House unanimously passed a resolution on 18 December, 2025 paying tribute to his supreme sacrifice, said Sh. Ashim Kumar Ghosh. The Governor congratulated Panipat-based weaver and handicraft artist Shri Khemraj Sundariyal who has been honoured with the Padma Shri.  

He said that Satyagrahis of Hindi Andolan and Emergency are being provided a monthly pension of Rs. 20,000 in recognition of their contributions. Accredited media persons are receiving a monthly pension of Rs. 15,000 along with insurance coverage up to Rs. 10 lakh and life insurance up to Rs. 20 lakh at subsidised premium rates.

Additional benefits include free travel up to 4,000 km annually in buses of Haryana Roadways and financial assistance of up to Rs. 2.5 lakh in case of medical emergencies or death.
