Five-Day FDP on Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Concludes at RBU

Rayat Bahra University (RBU) organised a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship under the aegis of the School of Life Sciences and Sciences. The programme concluded on its fifth and final day under the patronage of Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra.

Appreciating the dedicated efforts of the organising team, Gurvinder Singh Bahra underscored the importance of fostering a robust research and innovation culture within academic institutions. He encouraged faculty members to actively contribute to knowledge creation and promote innovation-driven learning to meet global academic and industry standards.

Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University, highlighted the growing relevance of research and innovation in today’s rapidly evolving global landscape. He motivated participants to pursue research with commitment, creativity and a sense of purpose to address emerging societal and technological challenges.

Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, emphasised that building a strong research ecosystem is vital for Higher Education Institutions. He noted that the university has consistently provided state-of-the-art facilities and institutional support to strengthen research and innovation initiatives among faculty and students.

Prof. (Dr.) Simerjit Kaur, Director-IQAC, delivered an insightful session on research ethics, cautioning against unethical practices adopted for promotions and recognition. She stressed the importance of maintaining integrity and ethical standards in laboratory research, field studies, and research involving human participants.

The FDP featured a series of expert lectures by distinguished speakers. Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kumar conducted a comprehensive session on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), elaborating on drafting, filing procedures and patenting innovations. Dr. Harsimran guided participants on startups and entrepreneurship, discussing strategies to convert innovative ideas into successful ventures and outlining various funding opportunities.

Dr. Sukhbir Singh addressed the crucial topic of selecting quality research journals, warning against predatory publications and highlighting reputed indexing platforms such as Scopus, Web of Science and SCI. Dr. Pawan Dhayia delivered a lecture on modern drug design, shedding light on the interdisciplinary approaches involved in contemporary drug discovery.

The programme concluded with an engaging interactive question-answer session moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Simerjit Kaur, followed by a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Parul Dhar.
