Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran and ACIC RISE Association (supported by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog), in collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) successfully hosted Pre-Summit Event of ‘AI Impact Summit 2026’, focused on the theme, ‘Convergence of AI-Driven Research & Innovation’.
The event highlighted CGC Landran’s role as a catalyst for AI-enabled research, innovation and national capacity building. Envisioned to serve as a collaborative platform, this pre-summit initiative brought together academia, industry, government, policymakers and startups to deliberate on the convergence of AI-driven research and innovation for inclusive societal development.
With a focus on Atmanirbhar Bharat, Industry 5.0 and AI-led sustainable growth, the event promoted interdisciplinary research, strengthened institutional innovation ecosystems under the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) framework and encouraged entrepreneurship and startup engagement. It also emphasized capacity building among faculty, researchers and students in emerging technologies such as Generative AI and Agentic AI, while facilitating knowledge exchange on innovation policies, research translation, and commercialization opportunities.
The inaugural ceremony of the event featured addresses by Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma, Dean (Research and Development), and Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) H. S. Jattana, Former Scientist-G, Department of Space, Government of India. Special guest Mr. Nirmal Nambiar, Founder & CEO, Oqlous AGI, shared industry perspectives, while Dr. Onkar Nath Tiwari, Scientist-F, Department of Biotechnology, delivered a virtual talk on biotechnology-AI convergence.
Mr. Ankush Gawri, Innovation Manager, MoE Innovation Cell, AICTE, highlighted entrepreneurship and institutional collaboration. This was followed by a panel discussion on, ‘Startup Samvaad: AI as a Bridge for Inclusive Societal Development’. It witnessed insightful deliberations by a distinguished set of Panelists including Mr. Lovelash Dutt (DDU Universe Pvt. Ltd.), Ms. Gayatri Rana (Brandrift), Mr. Amit Kesle (The Hotel Media), Mr. Anish Kumar (Makes360) and Ms. Nishu Jain (Acorn Edutech), moderated by Mr. Abhinav Pundir (MSU Academic Foundation) and Ms. Sonia Jindal (Department of RISE).
The event’s third session, showcased regional startups including ConvertWise, Byteloom, Oqlous (Super Manager AGI), Varuna, and TestprepGPT to visiting investors. This was followed by an exclusive workshop on ‘Leveraging AI to Translate Academic Research into Industry 5.0 Applications’, helmed by Dr. Jagriti Saini (Eternal RESTE), Mr. Puneet Verma (TiE Chandigarh & Cybrain Software Solutions), Mr. Ajitpal Singh Brar (Antier Solutions) and Mr. Ankur Dinesh Garg (Allyra.ai).
The event concluded with valedictory remarks and votes of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Arora, IPR Head, Department of RISE and Dr. Deepika Sharma, Head, Publications Department, RISE. This Pre-Summit Event reinforced CGC Landran and ACIC RISE’s role as catalysts for AI-driven research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, laying the foundation for the upcoming ‘AI Impact Summit, 2026’ India.
