“Geriatric Care at Doorstep” for Citizens Above 80 Years: An Initiative by GMSH-16

Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector-16 (GMSH-16), has launched “Geriatric Care at Doorstep”, a free Mobile Health Unit (MHU) service aimed at providing medical assistance and palliative care at the homes of senior citizens aged above 80 years. The Mobile Health Unit operates through a fully equipped 4x4 ambulance fitted with basic medicines, oxygen support, vital monitoring equipment, and tele-consultation facilities. 

The service is delivered by a trained medical team comprising a Medical Officer, Nursing Officer, Pharmacist, and Physiotherapist. The initiative offers home-based medical consultations and prescriptions, screening and documentation of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), specialist tele-consultations, antiseptic dressings, physiotherapy support, health awareness, and assessment for urgent referral or hospital admission, wherever required.

Since its commencement, the service has seen encouraging response. Till January, a total of 98 senior citizens have benefited under the initiative.
