Mohali Carnival: Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela to Provide Marketing Platform for SHGs and MSMEs, Says DC Komal Mittal

The District Administration, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, will organise Mohali Carnival: Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela from January 30 to February 8 at the SARAS Mela Ground, Sector 88, Mohali, with the objective of promoting products of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), said Deputy Commissioner Ms. Komal Mittal here today.

Chairing a detailed meeting of line and stakeholder departments to ensure smooth and successful conduct of the event, the Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that the Mohali Carnival will not only provide a robust marketing platform for SHGs and MSMEs but will also feature a wide range of cultural and entertainment programmes to engage and attract residents and visitors alike. 

These will include mesmerising musical evenings, stage performances, fashion shows, traditional dance forms, and other cultural activities. She informed that the carnival will commence on January 30 with a musical evening by renowned singer Kanwar Grewal, marking a vibrant opening of the event. 

In addition, food stalls, swings, amusement rides, and other recreational activities will also form an integral part of the mela. The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure comprehensive arrangements covering accommodation, daily cleanliness, drinking water supply, electricity, toilet facilities, deployment of medical teams, police arrangements for law and order, as well as traffic and parking management.

Emphasising inter-departmental coordination, she instructed all officers to work in tandem to avoid any negligence or lapses. She added that the event should be conducted in a manner that ensures a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all participants and visitors.

The meeting was attended by ADC (Rural Development) Ms. Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Kharar Ms. Divya P, SDM Mohali Ms. Damandeep Kaur, Regional Transport Officer Mr. Rajpal Singh Sekhon, Chief Minister’s Field Officer Mr. Gurmeet Singh Sohi, DDPO Ms. Parambeer Kaur, MC Assistant Commissioner Mr. Jagjit Singh, and Executive Engineer Mr. Rajinder Pal.
