J.P. Nadda appointed BJP's election panel secretary

BJP general secretary J.P. Nadda was Tuesday appointed secretary of the chief election committee, replacing senior party leader Ananth Kumar.The key post was given to Nadda as a part of the revamp after new party president Amit Shah took charge. He also made his debut in the top decision making body of the party, the parliamentary board recently."Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah has appointed J.P. Nadda, national general secretary, as the secretary of the chief election committee," a party statement said.The 15-member CEC, which decides on the party candidates and takes other important election related decisions at the national level, has also been recently revamped.Nadda, a senior BJP leader from Himachal Pradesh, was among those whose names were doing round for the post of party chief before Shah's name was finally announced. He is believed to be close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The recent overhaul has seen veterans like former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L.K. Advani, and Murli Manohar Joshi being dropped from the party's parliamentary board.
