Sukhbir Puts 6 Highway Projects Worth Rs. 8528 Crore On Fast Track

The Punjab today came close to the dream of linking all major cities with 4/6 lane roads, with Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal putting six major National Highway Projects with combined cost of Rs 8528 crore on fast track. Reviewing the progress of ongoing road projects along with PWD Minster  Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Sukhbir Singh Badal, asked his Principal Secretary Mr. P.S. Aujla to ensure that every project was completed on schedule. It was informed in the meeting that Amritsar-Sri Ganga Nagar road that ( NH-15) to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 3000 crore has been approved by the Ministry of Transport and this project is likely to be completed by October 2015. The letter of allotment for Patiala-Bathinda 4 laning to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 2007 crore has been allotted to IVRCL, Hyderabad that would complete this project by April 2015. Similarly, the 4 laning of Zirakpur-Patiala to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 501 crore would be completed by October 2014. The Ludhiana-Moga-Talwandi Bhai 4 laning would be completed by October 2014 at the cost of Rs 480 crore. The 4 laning of Kharar-Ludhiana National Highway would be completed by April 2016. It was informed in the meeting that the 6 laning of Shambhu Border-Jalandhar Road being constructed at the cost of Rs 1800 crore would be completed by March 2013.  The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of Ropar-Chamkuur Sahib-Neelon-Doraha Road along Sirhind Canal, Sidhwan Canal Road 4 laning, Morinda-Kurali-Siswan Road, Extension of Sidhwan Canal-Ladowal Bypass and 4 laning of Ropar-Phagara Road.  Prominent amongst those, who were present in the meeting included Anurag Agarwal MD PIDB,  Manvesh Singh Sidhu and  Ajay Mahajan Special Secretaries to Deputy Chief Minister Punjab.  R.P.Singh CE, PWD(B&R)  and  R.S.Bal, GM, PIDB.
