Haryana Chief Secretary directs speedy recovery of RTI penalties from SPIOs

Haryana Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi today directed all Administrative Secretaries to ensure the speedy recovery of penalties imposed on State Public Information Officers (SPIOs) under Section 20(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005.Chairing a review meeting here today, the Chief Secretary instructed that the penalties be recovered in monthly installments directly from the concerned SPIOs.

Sh. Rastogi emphasized that strict compliance with the provisions of the RTI Act is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in governance. He reiterated that timely disposal of RTI applications and adherence to statutory timelines is a collective responsibility of all departments to uphold the spirit of the Act and strengthen public trust in the administration.
