Capt Amarinder demands compensation for Ajnala, Raja Sansi farmers hit by Ravi flood

Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and local MP Capt Amarinder Singh today demanded compensation for the farmers whose crops have been damaged due to the flash floods in river Ravi.While expressing his sympathies to the affected farmers, he urged the government to assess their losses and provide adequate compensation.Capt Amarinder also spoke to senior party leader Harpartap Singh Ajnala who conducted the tour of the area today and briefed him about the situation. He was told that thousands of acres of standing crops in Ajnala and Raja Sansi assembly segments have been completely damaged due to the devastating floods.The former Chief Minister said, the floods had become a regular feature and it was important to construct the embankments on the river Ravi from Dharamkot to Saharan to prevent the floods in future as that was the only permanent solution. He said, he will also take up the matter with the central government so that the embankments are built at the earliest.
