Vocational courses in state be taught in Punjabi: Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema

In an effort to increase the acceptability of Punjabi language in the Industrial circles of the country and state, the Punjab Government has decided to substitute the medium of instruction for teaching Vocational Course in the state with Punjabi. The syllabus of 6 vocational courses, recently started by the education department, has already been translated into English and it had been uploaded on the official website.In a press communiqué released here today, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab said that in the face of difficulties being faced by the students of rural background, recently introduced 6 vocational courses, Security, I.T, Automobile, Health Care, Beauty & Wellness and Retail would only be taught in Punjabi Language. He said that syllabus of 5 courses have already been translated and uploaded on website whereas the translation of the syllabus of sixth course Beauty & Wellness would also be completed soon. “National Skill Development Agency (N.S.D.A) has prepared the syllabus of these vocational courses for all the schools of the country only in English language”, added Dr. Cheema. He said that this syllabus has further translated into Punjabi and uploaded on the website. He said soon the syllabus would be published in book form and supplied to the students.Dr. Cheema said that the Punjab Government has already elevated Punjabi as official language by formulating Language Act, now the efforts are on to make it employment/industry friendly language.
