Union Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah, while remembering the supreme sacrifice of the Tenth Sikh Guru and the brave Sahibzadas on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas, said that this day is not only an occasion to commemorate the martyrdom of the four Sahibzadas, but also a day to awaken the spirit of unwavering dedication towards patriotism, faith and human values among coming generations.
He said that a nation where a father did not hesitate to sacrifice his four sons for the protection of the nation and religion can never be defeated.Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Sh. Amit Shah was addressing a programme organised in Panchkula on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas as the chief guest. On this occasion, Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini was also present.
During the programme, Sh. Amit Shah released a coffee table book based on the saga of sacrifice of the Sahibzadas and the Vision Document 2047 prepared by the Haryana Government. In addition, the Union Home Minister also distributed appointment letters to family members of those killed in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Praising Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Sh. Amit Shah said that providing justice, compensation and employment to the Sikh families affected by the 1984 riots and ensuring dignified employment to them after decades reflects the firm commitment of the state government.
The Home Minister said that from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Sikh Guru tradition stands as a shining example of sacrifice, courage, compassion and universal brotherhood. Paying respectful homage to Hind Ki Chadar Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, he said that had he not sacrificed his life for the protection of faith, neither Hinduism nor Sikhism would have survived today.
For his sacrifice, the nation will always remain indebted. He said that this sacrifice is unparalleled in world history.Sh. Amit Shah also paid tribute to the sacrifice and patience of Mata Gujri Ji, stating that she imbued the Sahibzadas with discipline, courage and values.
The supreme sacrifice of nine-year-old Baba Zorawar Singh and seven-year-old Baba Fateh Singh, who chose death for faith and truth rather than bowing before oppression, is not merely history but a symbol of India’s moral strength.
The Home Minister said that the Sikh community has always stood at the forefront in defending the nation, serving humanity and making sacrifices in times of crisis. The Sikh Panth set an example of universal brotherhood and, by including the teachings of saints and traditions from diverse backgrounds in the Guru Granth Sahib, worked to unite the entire nation into one thread.
Praising Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the Home Minister said that it has been his good fortune that during his tenure, historic events such as the 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the 350th Prakash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 400th martyrdom year of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, and the observance of Veer Bal Diwas were commemorated.
He said that by deciding to observe Veer Bal Diwas across the country on December 26, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has given crores of children an opportunity to draw inspiration from the lives of the Sahibzadas.The Home Minister urged the people of the country to narrate the saga of sacrifice of the Sahibzadas to their families, especially children.
He said that whenever India faces a crisis, future generations will always be ready to protect the motherland.He reminded that Veer Bal Diwas is not merely a day of remembrance, but an occasion for nation-building and for imparting the message of courage, sacrifice and devotion to faith to coming generations.
On this occasion, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, Cabinet Ministers Sh. Anil Vij, Sh. Rao Narbir Singh, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana and Dr. Arvind Sharma, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Rekha Sharma, Kalka MLA Smt. Shakti Rani Sharma and a large number of other dignitaries were present.
