Mohammad Khurshid Alam slams Govt for hollow visits in floods

Demands immediate measures, corners NC for playing politics during present crises

Coming down heavily upon the providing the mere lip service during the present crises of floods in the state, PDP leader and candidate for Khaniyar constituency Mohammad Khurshid Alam Saturday said that in the midst of the crises hollow visits by the government are rubbing salt to the wounds of the people here.In a statement issued here, Alam maintained that thousands of people in the old city are on the streets with the essential commodities being washed away due to  the harsh floods and the mere visits of the NC government is for sure adding agonies of the people.

“They come in their bullet proof vehicles with their security guards, take photos while talking to the flood victims and leave but no efforts on ground are being made to end the peoples’ woes. This has become incorrigible of the NC government,” Alam said during his visit to scores of flood affected areas of the old city on Saturday.He maintained that already the city is living in the most pathetic conditions and the anarchic measures of the ruling party have landed in the masses in the middle of the worst crises.

Alam demanded that instead of mere lip service and paying politics, the government must take immediate measures to provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected people.He added that the ration and other essential commodities have been washed away due to floods and if the speedy measures are not taken, the situation will worsen further. He also demanded that free additional ration must be given to the affected and also the government has to open the marriage hall to shelter the flood hit families.  “Tents must be provided at an earliest besides free additional ration and gas cylinders.”
