The Nagar Kirtan, dedicated to the 350th year of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom, will reach Barnala district on November 20. Giving an ode to Guru Sahiban, Punjab government is holding the Nagar kirtan that shall start from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. Upon entering the district limits, it will be accorded Guard of Honor.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. T. Benith today chaired a meeting near Gurdwara Sohiana Sahib to review the arrangements for receiving the Nagar Kirtan. He stated that the 44-kilometre-long route will start from Tapa and end at Badbar, after which it will enter Sangrur district. 

SSP Mr. Sarfaraz Alam was also present on the occasion. Upon entering the district boundary, the Punjab Police will present a Guard of Honour to the Nagar Kirtan. Starting from Tapa, it will proceed towards Gurdwara Sohiana Sahib and halt briefly near the HP petrol pump, where arrangements have been made for the devotees. 

Deputy Commissioner informed that the entire route has been divided into five sectors. First sector is from Tapa to Gurdwara Sohiana Sahib, second sector is from Sohiana Sahib to Handiaya Chowk, third sector is from Handiaya Chowk to Kacheri Chowk, fourth sector is from Kacheri Chowk to ITI Chowk and fifth sectorn is from ITI Chowk to Badbar. 

DC added that arrangements for drinking water have been made for devotees accompanying the Nagar Kirtan. The Nagar Councils of Tapa and Barnala have been instructed to ensure proper cleaning along the entire route. Teams from the health department and fire brigade will accompany the Nagar Kirtan. 

Meanwhile, the PSPCL has been directed to ensure that there are no low-hanging electric wires along the route. SSP Mr. Sarfaraz Alam stated that adequate parking and security arrangements will be ensured at all points along the route and at temporary rest locations.
