Crores being spent in Barnala constituency to develop sports grounds for youth: Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer

Member of Parliament Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today laid the foundation stone for a sports ground at village Dangarh, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 5.76 lakhs.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that continuous development projects worth crores of rupees are underway in the Barnala constituency to accelerate various developmental projects. 

He also informed that projects worth around Rs. 25 crore have been initiated for sports ground development in the Mehal Kalan and Bhadaur assembly constituencies.Mr. Hayer further mentioned that the Chief Minister has sanctioned around Rs. 60 crore exclusively for village playgrounds in the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency. 

The sanction of Rs. 25 crore funds for Barnala district will give a new shape to the sports infrastructure and rural development of the region. He added that earlier as well, the Chief Minister had released crores of rupees for playgrounds in the rural areas of Barnala. Funds amounting to Rs. 5.75 crore have been distributed among 26 village panchayats to encourage rural youth to engage in sports. 

Under this initiative, the government has allocated around Rs. 45 lakh for the Dangarh ground, Rs. 40 lakh for village Kattu, and Rs. 46 lakh for Dhanaula Khurd. Similarly, other villages have received funds ranging from Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 40 lakh for playground development.

He elaborated that each sports ground will have boundary walls, bathrooms, room, race track, water supply and grass. Areas that require levelling will will be properly levelled. In addition, a small park for children will be developed, and high-mast lights will be installed to enable children and elderly residents to use the facilities even in the evenings.

On this occasion, Chairman of Improvement Trust Mr. Ram Tirath Manna, OSD Mr. Hasanpreet Bhardwaj, several village sarpanches, and other prominent local residents were present.
