Prof. Saifuddin Soz visited Leprosy hospital

Prof. Saifuddin Soz MP (former Union Minister) & President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee visited Leprosy Hospital at Lal Bazar (Srinagar) today, where some Officers, were also present He was accompanied by Moinul Haque, Mrs. Shameema Raina, Farooq Andrbi General Secretaries.According to a statement issued to KNS, Prof. Soz raised some questions with the Officers concerned and came to know that this Hospital was in a bad shape and Leprosy Patients needed lot of relief measures. Prof Soz asked Shri. Taj Mohi U din Minister for Health and Medical Education on Phone to take urgent notice of deficiencies in the Leprosy Hospital. Taj Mohi U Din assured Prof. Soz that necessary measures would be taken soon.Prof. Soz said that Leprosy Hospital was established by the British Missionaries in 1889 and now the hospital was really in bad shape.

Prof. Soz thanked the State Housing Department for its commitment to complete the 31 Housing Unites for Leprosy Patients under RGAY Scheme and construction of 45 housing Units more for the Lepor Families.Prof. Soz assured the patient that he would see to it that the Hospital would be looked after better in future. The Housing Department also assured Prof. Soz that it would provide toilet Block at the backyard of the Hospital, as early s possible. Later Prof. Soz a public rally in the vicinity and stressed the fact that Leprosy was a curable disease and any discrimination against the Lepors was a crime.

Prof. Soz also stressed that even when Congress Party differed with Modi Politically, it was possible to deal with Modi Govt. and fight for development of J&K State. He said that he would, therefore, take up the matter regarding construction of a new building for the Hospital, with the Union Heath Minister. On this occasion Prof. Soz told the rally that Congress Party would emerge as the single largest party after the elections and that not Government could be formed in the State without Congress Party’s Participation.Moinul Haque thanked Shameema Raina General Secretary for organizing the Rally and said that she (Mrs. Raina) was a popular leader of Congress Party and she deserved all encouragement. Those who also spoke on the occasion Included Farooq Andrabi , Shameema Sopori, Irfan Naqeeb, Shameema Khan Distri, Saira Sameer, Shameema Iqbal and others.
