The annual death anniversary of Sant Baba Daya Singh Ji was observed with deep reverence and devotion at Salempar Sekhan village in Patiala district. On this auspicious occasion, Youth Akali Dal President and Core Committee Member Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjher, along with a large number of devotees, paid homage to the revered saint.

To mark the occasion, the Youth Wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Ghanaur constituency, under the leadership of Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjher, organized a special turban camp as part of the “Meri Dastar Meri Shaan” campaign. The primary objective of this initiative was to inspire the youth and children to embrace the turban — the sacred gift of the Gurus — and to strengthen their connection with Sikh heritage and values.

Expressing his gratitude to the Youth Wing and the Gurdwara Management Committee, Jhinjher described the initiative as a commendable effort to spread the light of Sikhism among the younger generation. He emphasized that, with the blessings of Guru Sahib, this campaign will continue with full spirit and dedication.

He reaffirmed that the Youth Akali Dal remains fully committed to safeguarding the history, heritage, and self-respect of the Sikh community. “The turban is our identity, our pride, and a priceless gift from our Gurus.

It is our duty to protect and honor it,” Jhinjhar said, adding that through these camps, efforts are being made to raise awareness among the youth about their cultural and religious identity. He also mentioned that a large-scale turban camp had recently been organized under the “Meri Dastar Meri Shaan” campaign during the Baba Budha Sahib Ji Jod Mela in Tarn Taran.

Concluding his address, Jhinjhar expressed pride that the Shiromani Akali Dal is the only political party that has consistently and devotedly worked for the interests of Sikhism and continues to do so with sincerity and commitment. “This is why numerous camps like ‘Meri Dastar Meri Shaan’ have been successfully organized across the state,” he said.

Prominent among those present on the occasion were Halka President Gurjinder Singh Kabulpur, Sukhjain Singh Mendrinpur, Balwinder Singh Salempur, Kala Salempur, and Jagtar Singh Salempur.
