Constituency MLA and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that rather than pressing the Modi government at the Centre to provide a special relief package of ₹20,000 crore for Punjab’s flood victims, to release Punjab’s pending ₹8,000 crore Rural Development Fund, and to demand ₹50,000 crore under the GST relief fund, opposition parties like Congress, BJP, Akali Dal, etc., are instead diverting attention from the relief works of the Bhagwant Mann government— which is tirelessly serving the flood-affected— by misusing the pretext of ₹12,000 crore SDRF funds and politicizing the dead bodies of victims, the destroyed crops, ruined houses, drowned cattle, and devastated public infrastructure. Dhaliwal said that their anti-flood-victim face will soon be exposed during fact-based public debate.
He added that a heated discussion on the natural calamity of floods is expected in the special Punjab Assembly session convened by the Mann government from September 26 to 29.Today, while concluding the final phase of the cleanliness campaign in his constituency, Dhaliwal completed the cleaning of the historic *Gurdwara Brahm Gyani Samadh Baba Budha Sahib Road* in the flood-affected historic town of *Ramdas.
In Ward No. 4 of Ramdas, he also distributed 30 folding beds, blankets, woolens, and torches (batteries) among slum dwellers and needy people affected by floods, with the support of **Yog and Sewa Parivar (Regd.)*. Speaking to select journalists on this occasion, he said that the Bhagwant Mann government is committed to rehabilitating all affected sections of society and uplifting their lives.
However, he pointed out that Punjab and its farmers now face a major challenge in sowing the next wheat crop on lands where fertile soil was eroded by the floods and fields were buried under stones, red soil, sand, and silt carried down by the rivers from the hills. He explained that even after cleaning such fields to make them cultivable again, the fertile soil suffers severe nutrient loss, especially *nitrogen and zinc*.
Keeping this in view, the government, along with social service organizations, is planning to provide farmers with wheat seeds certified by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.Dhaliwal further informed that as per Punjab government directions, PAU Ludhiana is conducting a survey of flood-affected farmers so that timely distribution of seeds for wheat, other rabi crops, and vegetables can be ensured.
Present on the occasion were Khushpal Singh Dhaliwal, Amandeep Kaur Dhaliwal, PA Mukhtar Singh Baldarwal, Chairman Babbu Chetanpura, City President Harpal Singh Ramdas, Kabal Singh Pachhia, Vinod Dawar (Patron, Yog and Sewa Parivar), Kapil Chugh (Chief Advisor), Rajkumar Kapoor, the owner of N.K.H. Industries, and others.
