Sewa Parv 2025 : Series of awareness, community welfare activities held across Kathua on Day 2

The Day 2 of Sewa Parv 2025 witnessed a host of awareness programmes, plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, health camps and skill development activities across the Kathua District, promoting civic responsibility, health, and community well-being.
Educational institutions across the district actively participated in anti-drug campaigns to sensitize youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse. GHSS Durang organized a symposium on ‘Say No to Drugs’, where students shared their views and pledged to stay away from the menace.
PM SHRI GHSS Dullangal hosted a Poster Making Competition on the hazards of Drugs & Tobacco, while GGMS Nagrota Prehta and GMS Ghaghrore conducted awareness activities all spreading the message of a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
Under Poshan Maah 2025, a Growth Measurement Camp was held at AWC Budhi (E), Project Barnoti to promote child health and nutrition awareness. The Health Department under Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan organized screening and awareness camps across different blocks, focusing on maternal health, anaemia, cancer and NCD prevention, besides TB and sickle cell disease detection.
The camps also included counselling sessions and health check-ups, ensuring accessible healthcare services for women and children at the grassroots level. In line with the vision of financial literacy and empowerment, RSETI Kathua, in collaboration with JKGB & NABARD organized an Awareness Camp at Village Hatli, while another programme on Banking Products was held at Mangalore.
The CSC Department conducted a Cyber Security Awareness Camp at Panchayat Lowang (Bani) to educate citizens about safe digital practices. Skill and entrepreneurship promotion also remained a major highlight. ITI Kathua organized an Awareness Session on Entrepreneurship & PM Vishwakarma Scheme, while ITI Bhaddu/Billawar, ITI Bani and ITI Basohli conducted programmes on entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and self-employment, inspiring youth towards self-reliance and innovation.
The district also witnessed massive cleanliness and sustainability drives. MC Kathua carried out the Ek Sath Ek Ghanta Sanitation Campaign, SUP awareness and PM Svanidhi enrolment. MC Parole and MC Hiranagar organized sanitation and awareness programmes, while MC Billawar held drives in schools, markets and around water bodies.
CSC Parnala (Billawar) organized a Digital Literacy & Cyber Security Camp. To promote sustainability and greenery, the Kathua Forest Division organized a Plantation-cum- tree Distribution Drive at Jhandi Fort, Hiranagar, distributing 200 saplings and spreading awareness on cleanliness at heritage sites.
The District Soil Conservation Office also organized a Cleanliness & Sustainability Drive at GDC Kathua to promote a greener tomorrow. A special cleanliness drive for a Polythene-Free Sukrala was organized from GHS Sukrala to Nagar Van & Biodiversity Park with participation from students, teachers, CRPF & FPF personnel.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma appreciated the proactive participation of schools, health institutions, government departments and citizens in the campaign and said that Sewa Parv embodies the spirit of collective action, health awareness and sustainable development for a better society.
