Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today inaugurated the Sewa Parv celebrations at a district level function held at Mini Secretariat by leading a pledge ceremony, wherein officers, officials, students, and citizens reaffirmed their commitment towards public service, cleanliness and community welfare.
On the occasion, Swachhta drive within the Mini secretariat premises was held to mark the initiation of the cleanliness campaign. Speaking on the occasion, DC highlighted that the Sewa Parv is being observed across the district to promote the spirit of service, volunteerism and collective responsibility among all stakeholders.
He emphasized that the campaign is not only about cleanliness but also about selfless service for the good of society. As part of the programme, DC also flagged-off the Swachhta Seva Vans, which will travel across different blocks and town areas to spread awareness regarding sanitation, waste segregation and eco-friendly practices.
During the campaign, information dissemination on various government schemes linked with health, social welfare & social security, child and women development, employment generation, agri development schemes, etc shall be focused along with conduct of grievance redressal camps at tehsil and block levels.
DC urged all stakeholders, including officials, students and civil society groups to actively participate in the activities being organized under Sewa Parv. The inaugural day of Sewa Parv witnessed a host of activities carried out by various departments across the district including the sanitation drives in offices and markets, pledges for environmental cleanliness, awareness of flagship schemes, awareness on entrepreneurship among various other activities.
All these activities collectively marked the beginning of a two-week campaign dedicated to public service, cleanliness and community participation. ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; GM, DIC, Shurjil Naik; ACR, and other district and sectoral officers were present at the event.
