Seeking clear mandate for National Conference in ensuing elections, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Sunday said a stable government alone can deliver on ground and satiate the aspirations of the people.Addressing party workers at Janipur, after inaugurating election office of the party candidate for Jammu West Constituency, Mr Rana said fractured mandate was detrimental to the interests of a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir, which needs a special dispensation to meet the challenges on developmental, economic and political fronts.Mr Rana said the state has been a victim of destabilisation, which has affected governance and decision making in the past . “Despite all these shortcomings, the Omar led government has endeavoured to give a new dimension to development after heralding peace in the wake of most turbulent situation”, he said adding this momentum has to be maintained at all costs.

The Provincial President said that National Conference was of firm belief that challenges faced to the state can only be met by taking every segment along. Making a parallel between the NC and other parties, he said it is the only party where decision about governance are taken by the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and not thrust from New Delhi. “National Conference is a mass movement that knows no religious barriers or regional boundaries”, he maintained.

The Provincial President asked the sagacious voters of Jammu to try National Conference this time and see for themselves the difference. He said those representing Jammu constituencies have not done justice to their mandate by showing inertia to their bonafide obligations towards the city. He said the party has mandated Mr Dharamvir Singh Jamwal from Jammu West, keeping in view his track record and service to the city in his capacity as Deputy Mayor. He said Jammu needs to be developed as a core area with thrust on sewerage, drainage, health and hygiene besides various services on modern lines. “It is the city that remains agog with activity round the clock due to influx of pilgrim tourists and those embarking to Kashmir entire year”, he said adding this needs to have adequate infrastructure to meet the requirements of visiting people and those residing here.

Rana said several initiatives have already been taken to improve sewerage across the old city and to restore the heritage character of Raghunath Bazar yet much more is required to be done. He said National Conference is the only party that can take care of genuine aspirations of the people.Speaking on the occasion, the party candidate for Jammu West Mr Dharamvir Singh Jamwal said that he will devote himself to the development of the constituency and welfare of its people. He said he was fully aware about the gray areas that needed focussed attention in terms of upgrading infrastructure, improving facilities and ensuring various utility services.

“As a foot soldier of National Conference I am committed to faster development of Jammu”, he said and referred to his earlier efforts in this regard. He said National Conference does not believe in emotive sloganeering and wants to take all segments of society together for heralding an era of progress and development.Senior National Conference leaders also spoke on the occasion and made a fervent appeal to people to vote for the National Conference candidates in ensuing elections. “Strengthening hands of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is need of the hour”, they said and exuded confidence National Conference registering massive victory to form a stable government.
