District Development Commissioner (DDC) Samba, Ayushi Sudan, formally launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga – Har Ghar Swachhta’ campaign, a nationwide initiative by the Government of India. She was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Champa Devi Thakur, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Singh and ACD/ACP Samba Narsingh Dayal Verma.

The campaign was flagged off in the presence of district officers, field functionaries, and sanitation workers to promote awareness of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and other environment-focused schemes.

A collective pledge was taken by all attendees to spread awareness and ensure the effective implementation of sanitation and water schemes across the district. A similar pledge ceremony was held in all blocks and tehsils of Samba, where citizens participated in large numbers.

Throughout the campaign period, a series of activities will be held across the district, including cleanliness drives in public spaces, panchayat ghars, parks, and monuments; competitions for poster making and slogan writing in schools to promote national pride and sanitation; bike rallies and door-to-door outreach to encourage flag hoisting and cleanliness; cultural programmes, nukkad nataks and youth engagement activities to strengthen the spirit of unity and hygiene and awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of JJM and SBM assets.

Additionally, households and villages will be evaluated for recognition under ‘Cleanest Street’ or ‘Best Decorated with Tiranga’ initiatives. The campaign will culminate with Independence Day celebrations, which will honour sanitation workers and amplify the message of swachhta through community participation.

Supportive activities, such as public announcements of Swachhta slogans, selfie points and extensive social media engagement using the hashtags #HarGharTiranga and #HarGharSwachhta, are being run across the district to sustain momentum.
