Army kills ‘militant’ in Tandhdar

Army Tuesday claimed that it killed a militant during an encounter in Tanghdar area of North Kashmir near the Line of Control."The troops along LoC in Tangdhar sector observed some suspicious movement past midnight. On being challenged, the militant opened fire at Army positions which was retaliated," an Army spokesman told CNS adding that the encounter resulted in the death of a militant in whose possession an AK-47 rifle was recovered on spot. The army said it was not immediately clear if the slain militant was infiltrating or exfiltrating to Pakistan. The spokesperson further said that the operation against militants is in progress and there are apprehensions that more militants may be hiding in the area. (CNS)
