Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has launched a campaign "Yudh Nashiyan Virudh" to make the state drug-free. As part of this campaign, district police and civil administration, led by SSP Sartaaj Singh Chahal, have demolished illegal constructions built by drug smugglers in Ram Nagar Basti (settlement) on Ubhawal Road.

The SSP said that more than a dozen cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against accused Rani Kaur, wife of Baljinder Singh alias Bhinda, and her family members. Similarly, around a dozen cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against Mandeep Singh alias Sonu, son of Lal Singh, and his family members, and their illegally constructed houses have been demolished.

The SSP emphasized that the Punjab government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and is taking strict action against drug smugglers. Since March this year, district police have registered 307 cases and arrested 556 accused in connection with narcotics. A large quantity of narcotics, including opium, heroin, and other substances, has been seized.

The SSP said that the Punjab government is providing full support to youth who want to quit drugs and live a good life. Government-run de-addiction and rehabilitation centers are operational in the district. The SSP warned drug smugglers to stop selling drugs, failing which strict action will be taken against them.

The SSP emphasized that the "Yudh Nashiyan Virudh" campaign will continue, and those involved in the drug trade will not be spared. On this occasion, SP (Investigation) Navreet Singh Virk and other officials were present along with a large number of police personnel.
