Probing the Saradha scam, the CBI Thursday conducted searches at 10 locations in the city, including the residences of former IPS officer Rajat Majumdar and East Bengal club's official Debabrata Sarkar. The residence of scam kingpin Sudipta Sen's wife Piyali also featured in the 28 locations in Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati and Odisha that the agency raided during the day in connection with the Rs.10,000-crore chit fund swindle."They searched for around six hours, inspecting a host of documents including my income tax returns," said Sarkar who was grilled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths July 26.While Sen in a letter to the CBI had alleged Sarkar's complicity in the scam, former director general of police Majumdar - also a former security advisor to the Saradha group - was named by suspended Trinamool Congress parliamentarian Kunal Ghosh in a video shot before his arrest for his alleged involvement in the scam.

Ghosh, who headed Saradha's media arm, has repeatedly alleged the involvement of several of his top party leaders.Reacting to the development, Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Sujon Chakraborty said bigger names from the Trinamool will follow."It's just the tip of the iceberg... more bigger names will follow once the investigation goes deep. The Trinamool should be wary," Chakraborty said.State Bharatiya Janata Party president Rahul Sinha said: "It's not only politicians, but administrative and police officials were also involved. And the raid at Rajat Majumdar's house is a glaring example of how people at all levels connived in the scam."
