Sohan Singh Thandal Unveils “Experience Punjab On The Road” Travel Guide Of Punjab

Unique Effort To Showcase Punjab Tourism In An Extensive & Simplistic Way

Sohan Singh Thandal, Tourism Minister, Punjab today released a travel guide of Punjab “Experience Punjab on the road” here today. Speaking on the occasion the Tourism Minister said that “this is a good effort to showcase Punjab in an extensive yet very simplistic way which will be helpful to the travel enthusiasts.” Minister further said that Punjab Tourism started its marketing activities over past tow years which are aimed to create awareness among travel industry people by the state government. He said that several activities aimed to attract travel industry to promote the state are being undertaken like exhibiting in travel exhibitions in key markets of India. He said that besides inviting trade tour operators for familiarization tours, linking the travel trade of country with that of Punjab, Guide books like these help in reaching out to potential tourists highlighting the lesser known interesting places of Punjab as well.

Minister also lauded the effort put in by the book publishers Times Group Books and supported by Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board. Secretary Tourism Punjab, Mrs. Raji Shrivastava speaking on the occasion highlighted that this book takes a travel enthusiast on a road journey, in tone’s won or a hired vehicle to the popular as well as lesser know sights of interest capturing the local flavor of the state. She said that the book offers a firsthand account of what to see, Where to eat and where to stay while having the leisure to choose one’s own pace, take in the sights and experience the joy of mingling with the locals. ‘It also focuses on some main and some offbeat destinations, places of interest, anecdotes, trivia, listing for hotels and farm-stays, restaurants as well as shopping’ said Razi.Ms. Madhulita Mohanty, Natinoal Editor, Timse Group Books presented the first copy of guide book to Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal on the occasion.Others prominent present on the occasion included Director Tourism, Mr. Navjot pal Singh Randhawa and Mr. Basanta Raj Kumar, Executive Director Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board.
