The Member Parliament Sangrur Mr Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today inaugurated Dhanaula to Dangarh link road that has been widened from 10 feet to 18 feet. The widening of road has been a long pending demand of the people of area who have been dedicated the newly built 3.5 kms stretch of road at a cost of Rs 154 lakhs.
The road connects Dhanaula city with around 15 villages in the area. While inaugurating the newly laid road, the MP said that this stretch of road was last carpeted in the year 2017. Since past many years, with the increase in traffic, people had been demanding widening of the road.
The road had deep potholes and was broke from several places. He added that on the 10 feet narrow road, two vehicles could not run parallel to each other. Consequently, driver of one of the vehicles had to lower down his vehicle on the kacha path on sides of road.
“With the widening, now two vehicles can easily run parallel to each other without causing any traffic snarls,” MP said. Earlier at Badbar, MP Mr Meet Hayer inaugurated two outlets that would enable farmers to irrigate around 411 acres of their fields using the canal water.
These have been built at cost of Rs 80 lakhs. Giving more information, MP Mr Hayer added that the pipelines had been laid from canal to fields so that irrigation water is easily made available to the fields. This has also ensured in saving the underground water table as farmers do not have to draw water from tubewells to meet their demand for irrigation.
Mr Meet Hayer also listened to the problems of people of the area. People demanded bridge or flyover near Badbar bus stand. He added he was already in touch with Government of India over this.
Prominent among others present included constituency in-charge Mr Harinder Dhaliwal, XEN PWD Mr Davinder Pal Singh and others were also present.
