Punjab government firmly stands to save its water, youth

As part of the war against drugs campaign being run by the Punjab government, the state's Finance Minister Mr Harpal Singh Cheema called upon the Pindan De Pehredaar (guards of villages) of all 247 villages on district Mansa to unite and fight against drugs. With the slogan of Bole So Nihal, Mr Cheema administered oath against drugs to all the members of village defence committees that have been formed in villages across the state to keep an eye on drugs and help addicts find way to treatment.

Addressing a massive gathering at a palace on Jawaharke Road, Mr Harpal Cheema said Punjab fell under spell of drugs during regime of those governments that worked in principles of nepotism and dynastic politics. He said that since the time Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government has started working in Punjab, the sixth river of drug addiction has come to the verge of drying up. 

Congratulating the people of Punjab, he said that all the credit goes to those people who have joined this campaign of the government from every village, every house and neighborhood and contributed to this war. He said that the land of Punjab is the land of warring people and our people will stand firm and cooperate in this war started against drugs. 

He stated that Punjab is all set to be the erstwhile Rangla Punjab once more. He said that in Punjab government, drug traffickers are neither leaders nor police. Drug dealers will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that every resident of Punjab wants Punjab to be drug-free. Under stewardship of Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Singh Maan the war has started yielding results. 

He added that thye Chief Minister has been taking commendable decisions for the welfare of Punjab for the past three years, whether it is the eradication of drugs or jobs, the state government is making all-out efforts for this. He said called upon the gathering to motivate addicts to shun the abuse and re-build their lives. He added that people should encourage addicts to come to drug addiction centers for proper treatment and recovery. 

For this, one can contact the district administration and police administration. Every person suffering from drug addiction will be given free treatment by the government so that the youth can be brought on the right path. He added that it was moral duty of every Punjabi to ensure that youth gone astray should be treated.

He said that the Punjab government is standing firm to protect the youth of Punjab and the waters of Punjab. Rs 3500 crores have been kept by the state government to deliver canal water to every field. He said that this mission is not for a single person but every villager should contribute to it. He called upon villages to unite and fight the menace for which Village Defence Committees have been formed in every village. 

Besides this nasha mukti yatra will be conducted and meetings are to be held in the villages, in which every sarpanch, panch, nambardar, ASHA worker and other important persons should fully cooperate. On this occasion, Jalalabad MLA Mr. Jagdeep Kamboz Goldi addressed the audience and thanked CM Mr Bhagwant Singh Maan' for the way drug supply chain has been blocked even at the borders. 

The state government was already working on demolition of the properties of drug dealers and peddlers. He said that it was duty of all of us that we should all cooperate with the government in breaking the cycle of drug addiction and put the youth of Punjab back on their feet. He said that the information of the drug dealers should be given to the police, the name of the informer will be kept confidential and strict action will be taken against the drug traffickers.

MLA Mansa Dr. Vijay Singla said that it was a great honor of us that Punjab was now recovering from the drug menace. MLA Budhlada Principal Mr. Buddh Ram said that all village panchayats have passed resolutions against drug traffickers that they will not support any person who deals in drugs. He said that people's movement has been formed against drugs and drugs and drug dealers will no longer be allowed to stay in Punjab.

MLA Sardulgarh Mr Gurpreet Singh Bananwali said that any youth who wants to quit drugs will not only be treated, but will also be helped for setting up his business or get employment. He added that every citizen needs to support the campaign against drug traffickers to save their the future generations.

On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh said that the civil and police administration is fully active in the campaign against drug war. De-addiction and rehabilitation centers are being run in the district to treat addicts. Also OOAT centers are being run. He said that since the time Punjab government led by Chief Minister Shri. Bhagwant Singh Maan has launched a campaign against drugs, the number of patients in these de-addiction centers has increased. 

This is a clear proof that drug trafficking has been stopped. SSP Mr. Bhagirath Singh Meena said that under the campaign against drug war, Mansa Police has filed 222 cases and arrested 338 accused and recovered a large amount of drugs. He said that with the support of the district administration 3 illegal properties built by drug traders have been demolished so far. He said that under the leadership of the Punjab government, the Punjab Police is fully operational against drugs and no drug trafficker will be spared.

On this occasion, Coordinator Malwa (West) Chushpinderbir Chahal, Chairman Market Committee Mansa Gurpreet Singh Bhuchar, Chairman Market Committee Budhlada Satish Singla, Chairman Market Committee Bhikhi Varinder Soni, Chairman District Planning Committee Charanjit Singh Akkanwali, Chairman Cooperative Society Sohna Singh Kalipur, Additional Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal, SDM Mansa Kala Ram Kansal, SDM Besides Budhlada Gagandeep Singh, Balwant Bhikhi, sarpanches, panches and important persons of all the villages were present.
