Licence of Sonipat doctor cancelled for violating PC & PNDT Act

A State Task force (STF) meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal to review the action taken on last meeting decisions and further steps to be taken for improvement in sex ratio in the state.Dr Kuldeep Singh, Director General Health Services (DGHS), Haryana, briefed that data for village wise sex ratio (from 2019 to March 2025) has been compiled and special focus will be given on villages with low sex ratio.
Dr. Virender Yadav, convener of the STF, said, “Sex ratio of the state up to April 22, 2025 is 911 as per Civil Registration System (CRS) portal. Licence of one BAMS doctor of Sonipat district who was found violating PC & PNDT Act and MTP Act has been cancelled by Council of Indian Medicine, Haryana. Out of total 1500 MTP Centres in the state, 379 MTP centres have been closed and registration of 16 MTP centers has been suspended in the last one month. There is decline trend in sale of MTP Kit in Haryana.”
Dr. Virender Yadav further said, “Drug Control Officer (DCO) of Sonipat has been issued a show cause notice for unverified/ incomplete report and not ensuring that MTP kits are to be sold in MTP centres of Haryana. Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) to be done only after approval of competent authority and outcome of each In vitro Fertilization (IVF) intervention to be shared with concerned Civil Surgeon on a monthly basis.
Districts have been allocated to all the officers of State Drug Controller Office posted at the state headquarters and they will do field visits to prevent unauthorized/illegal sale of MTP kits. Sale of MTP kits to be cross checked by DCOs. Nomination of members in STF will be by name only to ensure that same person attends the STF meeting every Tuesday.”
All Civil Surgeons will monitor sale of MTP Kits in their districts. Special Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (B3P) camps will be organized by Senior Medical Officer (SMO) in charge of concerned Community Health Centres (CHC) with Programme Officer (PO), WCD on April 25, 2025 in villages with sex ratio less than 700. All Directors from DGHS office will attend these camps in their allocated districts and will cover at least two villages, he added.
Dr Simmi Verma, DHS, PNDT, Civil Surgeon, Panchkula, representatives from Police Department, Prosecution Department, Women and Child Development (WCD) Department and Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
