Minister for Food and Supply, Punjab Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak reviewed the wheat procurement at grain market Barnala and expressed satisfaction over the ongoing process.Talking to journalists, he said that there has been a bumper wheat crop this time in Punjab. So far 60 lakh MT of wheat has reached the markets and 54 lakh MT have been purchased. Apart from this, so far about 2.5 lakh farmers have reached the markets with their yield and Rs 8000 crores of the payment has been transferred to the farmers' accounts.He said that the Chief Minister as per instructions of Chief Minister S Bhagwant Singh Mann farmers are being given payments of their yield within 24 hours of the purchase and there is no delay in the lifting.

He said that during his visit to the markets, no problem has come up so far. He visited the markets of Sangrur, Barnala and Malerkotla today.He said that with the bumper crop, the central pool's procurement target of 124 lakh MT will be easily met with. He said that while the farmers are being given the complete value of their crops, at the same time fulfilling long pending demand of laborers and palledars, the Chief Minister of Punjab S Bhagwant Singh Mann has ordered increase in labor charges.Minister Mr. Kataruchak said that the Punjab government is concerned about the welfare of every section of the state and various facilities are provided to those sections as per the need.

Apart from this, an interest-free loan of Rs 9700 crore is being given to class four employees working in the Punjab government to buy wheat.He said that all the agencies and commission agents have been asked to make complete arrangements of tarpaulins and crates to protect the grain that has arrived in the markets from any kind of inclement weather. Apart from this, there is no shortage of gunny bags.He said that the grain storage capacity of 31 lakh MT is being augmented in state. 

This time 15 lakh MT will be directly lifted by the center in the next few days. He said that there was no problem of in the grain storage capacity. He also interacted with the workers and reviewed the transportation of wheat.The constituency in-charge Mr Harinder Singh Dhaliwal, chairman Improvement Trust Barnala Mr Ram Tirath Manna, Mr Parminder Singh Bhangu chairman market committee Barnala, chairman market committee tapa Mr Tarsem Singh Kahneke, chairman Dhanaula Mr Gurjot Singh, SDM Barnala Mr Hankwaljit Singh, officers from food and civil supply department and various procurement agencies were present.
