Under the flagship initiative of the Punjab Government, ‘Punjab Sikhiya Kranti’, development works worth more than Rs 1.50 crore were inaugurated today in 17 different government schools across the district. These include works worth Rs 43.73 lakh in 12 primary schools and Rs 1.06 crore in 5 upper primary schools. The projects primarily include modern classrooms, boundary walls, new buildings, and essential renovation works.
Punjab's Minister for Horticulture, Freedom Fighters, and Welfare of Defence Services Mohinder Bhagat, while inaugurating various development projects at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Basti Sheikh, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the standard of education in government schools has improved. This has increased public inclination toward government schools, leading to a rise in enrollments.
He stated that the day is not far when government schools will become the first choice for parents for their children's education.Mr. Bhagat said the Punjab Government is equipping government schools with state-of-the-art infrastructure and is providing modern education to students through digital technology.
He added that education has always been the top priority of the Punjab Government, which has taken exemplary steps such as establishing Schools of Eminence, appointing campus managers and security guards, launching bus services, promoting digital education, and training teachers abroad to provide modern education to students.
The Cabinet Minister said that ‘Punjab Sikhiya Kranti’ is not just a program but a step towards strengthening the foundation of Punjab’s future. He asserted that following the teachings of Baba Sahib Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Punjab Government will leave no stone unturned in transforming education sector in the state.
He appealed to parents to enroll their children in government schools and take advantage of the free facilities provided by the government.On this occasion, Mr. Bhagat also emphasized creating awareness against drugs in schools. He said that students should be educated about the dangers of drug abuse so that they can be protected from falling into this menace.
Similarly, MLA from Kartarpur, Mr. Balkar Singh, inaugurated development works worth Rs 79.92 lakh at Government Senior Secondary School, Noorpur, and Government High School, Shekhe village.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion were Councillor Manjeet Singh, District Education Officer Gurinderjit Kaur, Deputy District Education Officer Rajeev Joshi, along with school teachers, staff, students, and their parents.
