‘Sweet shop’ owner thrashes youth for demanding salary
Locals bloc highway, police registers case

Police Monday registered a case against sweet shop owner for allegedly thrashing one of his employees after he demanding salary from him. Locals from South Kashmir’s Bahihama and Mughalgund hamlets blocked the traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway for hours demanding stern action against the owner of a sweet shop who according to protestors works in Jammu and Kashmir Armed police department as a Sub-Inspector.Family sources told CNS that Tariq Ahmed Teli son of Maqsood Ahmed resident of Bahihama Kulgam used to work on a sweet shop in Kud Udhampur. The owner of the sweet shop Arif Khan according to family members of Tariq thrashed him mercilessly after he demanded two month salary from him. “Tariq in critical condition was shifted to Qazigund hospital where from doctors shifted him to District hospital Islamabad, however keeping the pain and damage in his testicles in view, the doctors advised the family members to shift him to SMHS hospitals Srinagar,” one of the family members told CNS adding that doctors attending him have described his condition critical.Eyewitnesses told CNS that the villagers from Bahihama and Mughalgund Kulgam Monday appeared on Srinagar-Jammu highway and staged a massive protest demanding immediate arrest of the shop owner. The protestors blocked the traffic for hours and it was only after police informed them that case has been registered against guilty that protestors dispersed peacefully. A police official from Qazigun police station told CNS that they are investigating the matter and the statements of the colleagues of victim have been recorded. (CNS)
