Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini appealed to newly elected public representatives of urban local bodies to rise above party politics and pledge to work in a mission mode with loyalty and dedication in the decisive war against drug abuse, speeding up the cleanliness campaign and raising awareness under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign started by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister was addressing all the public representatives present at the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Mayors of urban local bodies, Presidents and members of Municipal Councils and Municipalities in Panchkula today. Congratulating all the newly elected Mayors, Presidents and members of Municipal Councils and Municipalities, the Chief Minister said the recently concluded civic elections have proved that the people of the state want development, transparency and good governance.
He urged all the representatives to work towards making the cities prosperous, clean, safe, drug-free and self-reliant. The Chief Minister also assured that the Haryana Government will always be ready to cooperate in this journey of progress of the state.
Describing cities as the pride of the state and country, the Chief Minister said people coming from outside assess the prosperity of the city only by looking at the development there. In this direction, all the newly elected representatives have become the sentinels of this prosperity of Haryana.
He said the responsibility of implementing development works of the government in the cities lies on all of them. Expressing confidence, he said under the leadership of all the newly elected Mayors, Pradhans and members, the cities of Haryana will work rapidly towards making Haryana a developed state.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi had given the call of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ from the land of Haryana and the fact that our daughters got elected more than the target in these civic elections shows that the Haryana Government has taken this mission forward efficiently.
Referring to the mantra of cleanliness given by the Prime Minister, he said in this direction also, it is the responsibility of the newly elected public representatives to clean their corporation, municipality and city council and to live up to the sentiments and expectations of the people.
They should take a pledge that their municipality, city council and municipal corporation should become number one in cleanliness. He said the Manas Portal has been created to share information about drugs, which is monitored by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Sh. Amit Shah from time to time.
He urged everyone to use the Manas Portal if drugs are sold anywhere in your ward or area so that the young generation can be saved from this evil. He said the name of the informer is kept secret in this.
The Chief Minister said just as he represents 2.80 crore people of the state, similarly in a democracy, the public has elected the Mayors to represent their wards. Therefore, all the representatives should work to bring development works on the ground without any discrimination.
Describing honesty and transparency as the biggest capital, the Chief Minister said recently, a budget of more than Rs 2,05,000 crore has been presented for the development of the state and a large part of it will be spent with the cooperation of all the newly elected public representatives.
Therefore, everyone should ensure that every penny of the budget is spent on the welfare of the people and the development of Haryana. The Chief Minister said the government has made provisions in the budget to make the urban bodies self-reliant.
Also, many steps have been taken by the state government for decentralization of powers in urban local bodies. He said as per the recommendation of the Sixth Finance Commission, the budget given to the municipalities for development works has been doubled to Rs. 3,114 crore.
For the coming financial year, the budget of the Urban Local Bodies Department has been increased to Rs. 5666 crore so that development works can be accelerated further. The Chief Minister said Haryana's place and contribution will be important in the creation of self-reliant, developed and modern India as per the vision of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi.
The people of Haryana have formed a double engine government for the third time under the leadership of the Prime Minister. After the civic elections, this double engine has now been transformed into a triple engine. He said all of us together will work to live up to the expectations and aspirations of the people by developing at three times the speed to realize the Prime Minister's dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released Rs. 587 crore to all the bodies for development works under the State Finance Commission. The Chief Minister also launched the website and other portals of the Urban Local Bodies Department through online medium.
Newly elected representatives should fulfill their resolutions in first 100 days: Vipul Goel
Urban Local Bodies Minister Sh. Vipul Goel said the government has been formed for the third consecutive time in the state under the leadership of the Chief Minister and BJP has won the civic elections with a huge majority. He told the newly elected representatives that after today's swearing-in, new responsibilities are waiting for you.
You have to live up to the expectations and aspirations of the people. Just as the Chief Minister has fulfilled many promises by working on his resolutions in the first 100 days, similarly the local government should also work towards fulfilling its resolutions in the first 100 days.
This should be started from today itself so that the promises made for the welfare of the people can be fulfilled as soon as possible. He said the work of taking the government's schemes to the public and solving the small problems of the public is the responsibility of all the representatives.
The responsibility of taking forward the mission of cleanliness by the Prime Minister and giving it momentum is on your shoulders. Ensure that this work is done on mission mode. He said just as Indore is cited as an example in cleanliness today, Haryana's name should also come at number one in cleanliness.
