Speaking during a seminar organized at Desh Bhagat University on the topic of the war on drugs, Amloh constituency MLA Shri Gurinder Singh Garry Birring said that the Punjab government is committed to the complete eradication of drugs, and no stone would be left unturned to uproot this menace.

The MLA emphasized that drugs are a serious challenge, and it is the collective responsibility of all of us to fight against it. Awareness, education, and strong willpower can help the youth to stay away from this menace. Seeking the cooperation of the people, he said that the Punjab government is committed to eradicating drugs from the state.

The MLA said that Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, took an important step against drugs by organizing an awareness seminar under the Punjab Government's "War on Drugs" campaign. During the event, SDM Amloh, Mr. Chetan Bangar, addressed the students about the problem of drugs and its prevention. 

The experts shared valuable insights on the psychological, social, and legal aspects of drug abuse. Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University Dr. Zora Singh said that the commitment to promote a healthy and responsible youth is being expressed by initiating awareness campaigns, counseling sessions, and community outreach programs.

During this, the students actively participated in the interactive session, shared their views, and learned about the destructive impact of drugs on individuals and society. Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, President Dr. Sandeep Singh, Advisor to the Chancellor Dr. Varinder Singh, Vice President Dr. Harsh Sadavarti, Dr. Arshdeep Singh, and Dr. Prabhjot Singh thanked all the guests and the organizing committee and said that they should continue to organize such awareness programs for the better future of the youth. 

The Aks Rangmanch Samrala group, led by Rajwinder Singh, also performed a play against social evils. It is worth mentioning that this initiative was taken up by the Red Ribbon Club under the Student Welfare Department of the university in collaboration with the Punjab Government, School of Nursing, Desh Bhagat University, with the aim of making the youth aware of the ill effects of drugs and promoting a drug-free society. 

On this occasion, the Nursing Department also organized an anti-drug rally to make the youth aware of drug addiction. Various personalities, including DSP Gurdeep Singh and Medical Officer Dr. Salina, were present on the occasion.
