Mirwaiz reviews political situation, organizations matters

Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Dr. Molvi Mohammad Umar Farooq today convened joint meeting of Hurriyat’s Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee members at conglomerates headquarters located in Rajbagh. Representatives and heads of Hurriyat constituents participated in the meet.According to a statement issued to KNS, the meeting took detailed stock of the ongoing political situation and organizational matters besides discussing a number of future strategies to strengthen Hurriyat at grass root level keeping in view the existing political realties on ground.

Reacting to the recent statement of Chief Minister Omer Abdullah whereby he had asked the youth to adopt peaceful struggle, it was stated in the meeting that a place where the political, religious and economic rights of people are usurped, leaders pursing the freedom struggle by peaceful means are pushed to the wall, and all despotic and repressive measures are taken to suppress the political aspirations of Kashmiris, such suggestions amount to nothing but a crude political joke. The participants stated that it was due to ant-people policies adopted by National Conference which has been the main source of suffering and suppression for the Kashmiris.

Welcoming the statement of OIC General Secretary regarding Kashmir dispute, the meeting stated that the world Muslim body has played an encouraging role in the past in connection with the Kashmir issue. It was stated that the statement of OIC where it has asked for lasting resolution of Kashmir reflects its unflinching support for the just cause of Kashmiris.The participants also expressed hope that Indian state while accepting the political and ground realities, and respecting the view of international community, would take serious steps to start a result oriented dialogue among all the stake holders of Kashmir and would move towards the resolution of the dispute for once and all.

The meeting also paid glowing tribute to the martyred Hurriyat leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz on his sixth martyrdom anniversary. The meeting decided that on August 10, 2014 a prayer session would be held for the martyr leader and thousands of other martyrs at Iddgah and on August 11, 2014 a seminar would be held at Hurriyat headquarters to commemorate the great Kashmiri leader.
