Jayani Directs Health Department To Clear The Pendency Within A Week

Asks Officials To Clear The Pending Medical Claims On Top Priority

The Punjab Health & family Welfare Minister Surjeet Kumar Jayani has directed all rank and files of the department to clear the pendency of all cases within a week.The Health Minister has issued these directions while presiding over a high level meeting of the department here today. Taking strong exception of the pendency of the cases the minister asked the officers to deal all such cases on priority. He said that he would review the pendency in another meeting and strict action against the erring would be taken.Setting a deadline for the officer to clear the pending medical claims on priority, Health Minister asked the Director Health Services to provide technical and managerial support like computer and clerical staff as per the requirement. He also asked the director to streamline the working of the dealing branch so that these sorts of cases are cleared in automotive mode without any delay.

Health Minister Jayani also announced to constitute a departmental committee under the chairmanship of Director Health Services to redress the grievances of employees pertaining to promotions etc. He said that this committee would be bound to give a decision within seven days on the application of the applicant.  Minister also took a serious note of the issue that large numbers of employees were found absent during yesterday’s surprise check by the representative of the Chief Secretary, Punjab. He personally verified all the facts about the employees which were found absent yesterday.

Director Health Services while clarifying his position on being found absent said that he was on official tour with Health Minster to Abohar and Fazilka. On the other hand some other employees said that were out of office as per duties assigned by their seniors such as attending court cases etc. They also brought to the notice of the minister that the lift installed at the office was out of order which resulted in 10 to 15 minutes delay to reach the their branches on the fourth/fifth floor of the building. He said that all factors would be mentioned in the report which would be submitted to the concerned department. Health Minister lauded the campaign launched by the Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal to make officer/employees present in the offices on time. He also asked the senior officials to ensure the timely presence of employees in the office.
