High Level SAD Delegation Meets Haryana Governor

Pleads To Reverse The Uncontitution Act Passed By The Haryana Assembly

A high level delegation of The Shiromani Akali Dal comprising of the SGPC President S. Avtar Singh Makkar, SAD Secretary General S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, General Secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra and Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema met the Governor of Haryana Mr Kaptan Singh Solanki at Haryana Raj Bhawan today and demanded immediate review of the unconstitutional act passed by the Haryana Assembly against Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925.The delegation apprised the Governor that by enacting this act the Haryana assembly has engrossed upon  the area of SGPC which has been declared as an inter-state body corporate as per the Punjab Reorganization Act 1966. 

In a statement released from the party head office, the SAD Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the delegation also apprised the Governor about the plans and conspiracies been hatched by the illegally constituted new committee and the Haryana state government to forcibly take control of the historical Gurdwaras being governed by the SGPC. The delegation urged the Governor to direct the Haryana Government to work as per the constitutional norms and tell them to desist from even designs which can cause massive unrest and law and order situation in the state. The delegation also submitted a detailed memorandum about the unconstitutional act passed by the Haryana Assembly and demanded immediate reversal of the process.

The delegation also brought to the notice of the Governor that  the Honorable Supreme court of India while hearing a petition on 30.3.12 filed by the SGPC against the Sehajdhari Sikh Federation and others has passed an interim order in which it has directed that ,”the executive committee comprising of the following members under the chairmanship of S. Avtar Singh, shall continue to function and discharge its duties in terms of the sikh Gurdwara act 1925 untill further order.” The delegation pleaded with the Governor that the present move of the Haryana Government to pass an act to take control of Gurdwaras being governed by SGPC is an grave violation of the judgement of the highest court of the country.
