BJP chief welcomes announcement on VAT tax

Punjab BJP Chief Kamal Sharma has welcomed the move of state government announcing the withdrawal of controversial section 13 (1) of the Punjab VAT Act, 2005 as per which it was made mandatory for the traders and industrialists to submit VAT on the stocks as well.In a statement issued from party headquarters here, Sharma said that the BJP and had strongly raised its resentment against the tax with the state government.

“Withdrawing this new amendment was a welcome decision and would provide relief for the all the traders across the state. I thank the state government for making annoucment in this regard and respecting the general sentiments of the traders that was against this tax,” said Kamal Sharma.He said that apart from other senior leaders, he himself has taken up the matter with the deputy CM and the chief minister.The BJP chief said that the party was committed to protect the rights of the traders and would continue to raise the demands of the community in future as well.
